Program Description 

Vermont State University’s Associate of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering Technology program offers a wide range of career opportunities. This two-year program is an accredited engineering technology degree that covers the design, engineering principles, and manufacture of mechanical systems and technology. Graduates of the programs are prepared to: Develop a successful career in manufacturing, design, specification, installation, testing, operation, maintenance, sales, or documentation of mechanical systems; Employ strong communication and teamwork skills and participate productively on professional teams of engineers, technicians, and managers; Utilize technical knowledge and skills to effectively design, fabricate, manufacture, and maintain industrial and consumer systems and products; Continuously develop as a professional; adapt and stay current in their field. Graduates of this associate degree program are also well-prepared to continue and complete the Bachelor of Science programs at Vermont State University in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Renewable Energy, and Electromechanical Engineering Technology.

Program Outcomes 

  1. Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline. 

  1. Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to the discipline. 

  1. Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments and identify and use appropriate technical literature. 

  1. Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and analyze and interpret results. 

  1. Function effectively as a member of a technical team.
