Aviation Maintenance Technology (AAS.AVM)

Program Description

Vermont State University’s Associate of Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology program prepares students to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircrafts. The program trains students to provide high-quality aircraft maintenance services to both public and private enterprises. Students are provided with both fieldwork and internship opportunities to expand their view of the industry that supports all air travel and to make professional connections leading to careers in the field of aviation maintenance. The program works with various aviation maintenance industries to provide pathways to hiring right after graduation. Collaboration with professional agencies in local communities and beyond provides aviation and STEM outreach to improve diversity and support all students who seek a career in aviation.

Take courses toward your FAA Mechanic Certificate in subjects such as sheet metal and composite repair, electrical, fuel, and ignition systems at the Burlington Technical Center located at the Burlington International Airport. After certification, complete a campus-based residency semester at our Williston campus to earn your degree. This Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified program prepares you for A&P certification and employment in a variety of aviation sectors including commercial, corporate, and general aviation.
