The minor in Performing Arts allows students to choose courses in Music, Theater, and Dance to explore and develop skills in various facets of the Performing Arts.
Outcomes
- Students will gain a basic understanding of performing skills and context in Music, Theater, and Dance.
- Students will explore the inter-connectedness between the disciplines.
- Students will learn to utilize materials in appropriate manners to acheive desired effects and communication to an audience.
- Students will Incorporate input and ideas generated through the collaborative process of production into their own creative work.

Requirements for the minor
Any student may earn a minor in Performing Arts by taking 18 credits in the Music and Performing Arts Department. A minimum of 6 credits must be at the 3000 level or higher. Students are encouraged to work with an advisor in the department to plan their programs. Students are encouraged to participate in theater productions and/or music ensembles in addition to taking classes in each area. A maximum of 6 credits in applied lessons, ensembles, or productions may be used towards the minor, with only 3 in any one discipline.
- Choose 6 credits from the Music Program. At least 3 credits must be at the 2000 level or higher.
- Choose 6 credits from the Theater Arts Program with THA designation. At least 3 credits must be at the 2000 level or higher.
- Choose 6 credits from the Theater Arts Program with DAN designation. At least 3 credits must be at the 2000 level or higher.
NOTE: Students must choose a minimum of 6 credits in 3000/4000 level courses. Credits required for the minor: 18
