The Pre-Law certificate recognizes academic course work that builds skills and knowledge useful for the study of law or for careers in law, such as paralegal work. This is an inter-disciplinary program of core courses that build skills related to legal argumentation, and a wide variety of electives that provide substantive exposure to laws, regulations, and legal procedures.
Outcomes
- Understand the foundations of constitutional law and the judiciary
- Demonstrate skills related to writing coherent structured arguments
- Understand the formal logic related to legal arguments
- Demonstrate the ability to write legal briefs based on Court opinions
- Demonstrate familiarity with legal terminology and legal concepts

In addition to the core courses, students should select an additional 9 credits from the following list of courses; six of those nine credits must include courses at the 3000-level or above.
