Program Description 

Vermont State University’s Associate of Science in Information Technology introduces the students to the range of activities and tools used by modern IT, including networking, web sites, individual system and enterprise administration. Graduates are prepared for positions including help desk, junior system administrator and junior network engineer.  

Program Outcomes

  1. Understand fundamental programming concepts and write simple programs to help maintain systems  

  1. Develop and maintain static and simple dynamic web pages, including those connected to databases  

  1. Install, monitor, and maintain simple computer networks  

  1. Administer systems to provide shared services, including those that employ UNIX-based operations systems  

  1. Understand the historical and social context of information technology 

Program Electives (4-7 credits)


Take 4-7 credits of CIS, BUS, or MAT courses (excluding Intro to Programming) at the 2000 level or higher.

Credits Required for Major: 40-47


Graduation Requirements


To obtain a degree, students must fulfill the major-specific requirements as well as satisfy all other Degree Requirements  including the Connections General Education Program Requirements .
