HIS 3210 - Social History of Latin America 3 cr
This course explores Latin American life from precolonial to modern times. Topics under consideration include early human communities, the invention of race, the construction of respectability and deviance in sex and gender roles, the blending of beliefs from Christianity to Vodou, life amidst wealth and poverty, and the effect of political ideologies including socialism and conservative dictatorship on daily life.
