ELT 3010 - Digital Circuits II


3 cr

This course extends the student’s skill with digital hardware and covers more advanced topics including advanced digital design techniques. They examine various design methodologies such as state machine design and hardware description languages. Applications focus on the design of computer hardware subsystems such as arithmetic logic units and memory and the design and implementation of a simple computer system using the digital systems covered in this course. Labs illustrate the various methods for design entry such as schematic entry and VHDL, simulation, and testing. Designs are implemented using commercial PLDs.

2 hours of lecture, 3 hours of lab
