COM 2140 - Race, Gender and Sexuality in Media 3 cr
This course explores the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality and how they inform media creation. Media are among our primary sources of images of people and ideas that we do not encounter ourselves in our everyday lives. Through this course, students will develop a critical understanding of how power operates across media platforms through the examination of images of women, racial, and sexual minorities who have been on the fringes of policy development and yet at the center of narratives created by mainstream media.
Prerequisites: COM 1220 or consent of instructor. Offered: Spring There is a fee associated with this course
This course fulfills the Arts and Aesthetics general education requirement.
