AER 2130 - Aviation History 3 cr
This course explores the history of aviation from its earliest concepts and first practical flying machines to war birds, airliners, and modern aircraft. The student learns about the evolution of aviation technology including engines, aircraft materials, and aerodynamics. In addition, this course covers important historical figures, explores their personalities, and explains why and how they became fixtures in history. General world history provides a contextual background and enhances student understanding of how aviation has shaped our world. Course materials are presented by lecture; class discussions; presentation of films and other media; student presentations; team-based historical knowledge games; and hands-on examination of primary documents and artifacts.
