ENG 1450 - Censoring Popular Culture GE 4 cr This course is an interdisciplinary exploration of pivotal censorship battles from the American culture wars, focusing on comic books, movies, and reproductive rights. Students will learn how to analyze provocative works of art and use primary and secondary sources to build historical context around specific obscenity controversies, with an emphasis on recognizing recurring conflicts, patterns of behavior, and rhetorical strategies.
