This course traces the ongoing movement for civil rights for Black Americans in the United States. It explores the movements of the 1950s and 1960s, but it will recognize that the Civil Rights movement did not end in 1965. Topics include the rise and fall of segregation; civil disobedience; black nationalism; economic discrimination; busing; and the Black Lives Matter movement.
