This course enables students to understand and appreciate the rich and varied field of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies; to identify and explain ideas about gender and its impact on individuals, interactions, and institutions; to understand how gender identity is shaped by sexuality, race, ethnicity, class and culture, and what it means to be a gendered subject in the United States and abroad, in historical and contemporary terms.
