MEC 3010 - Wind Power


3 cr
This course introduces the concepts of wind power and associated technology. Topics addressed include the principles of wind energy and resource assessment; rotor and blade designs; the mechanical and electrical principles of wind turbine systems; types of applications; and the economics and current policies related to wind power. The lab portion of the course involves the installation of anemometry equipment and data evaluation; testing of generators; and monitoring and evaluation of installed systems.

Lecture/Lab: 2 hours of lecture, 2 hours of lab
Prerequisite(s): PHY 1051
