HIS 3550 - The Islamic World GE 3 cr Graded
This course is a survey of the Islamic world from the age of Mohammed to modernity. Topics include the analysis of traditional society; the influence of the West; the rise of nationalism; autocracy; the Arab-Israeli dilemma; revolution and fundamentalism; modernization and social change; and the region’s geopolitical role in the contemporary world.
Typically offered: Spring, even years General education: This course fulfills the Humanistic Perspectives general education requirement.
