HIS 3280 - The History of the American Recording Industry 3 cr Graded
This course traces the history of the recording industry in America from the 1890s to the present. It explores both minor and major labels that have produced music in such genres as classical, jazz, blues, gospel, country, rock, and rap. It analyzes the role of technology, manufacturing, and marketing in producing musical products. Students will listen to and analyze music.
