HIS 3130 - The Civil War and Reconstruction

This course will explore the American Civil War and its aftermath. Students will read the work of historians and examine documents left by participants. Topics include military campaigns, the home fronts, the politics of war and peace, the establishment of new constitutional rights during the Reconstruction period, and the violence that ultimately prevented many Black Americans from accessing those rights.
