GEO 2050 - Cartography GE

Students consider the art and science of mapmaking, and benefits and limitations of various map types in different contexts. Using Geographic Information Systems software, students learn methods for the appropriate creation, design, and interpretation of maps. Topics include map projections, color, artistic balance, generalization, symbolization, map types, and the roles of perception and bias in the creation and consumption of maps.
