ELM 3015 - Sensors & Instrumentation 3 cr This course introduces the type of sensors used in research and industry to measure physical and mechanical parameters and the standard methods of interfacing these devices. Topics include investigation of the underlying physical phenomenon which each transducer exploits and various signal conditioning and interfacing strategies. Typical devices covered include strain gages, LVDTs, load cells, pressure transducers, tachometers, accelerometers, temperature sensors, level sensors, and optical sensors.
