Program Description

Vermont State University’s Associate of Science degree in Mountain Resort Management will prepare students to work in all aspects of the mountain and ski resort industry, from on-the-mountain to back-of-the-house positions. Students learn the skills and strategies to become effective managers at the summer and winter mountain and ski resorts where they love to play.

Courses in resort software technologies, environmental science, mountain and ski resort management, leadership and small group dynamics, among others, will build the foundational knowledge students need, while hands-on practicums will put all they learn directly to work.

The Mountain Resort Management degree opens doors, helping students to move from seasonal lift operator or snow sports instructor, for example, to year-round mountain and ski resort staff in growth positions. The program is a great fit for students with industry experience (as a customer and as staff) who want to move up, as well as those wanting to shift careers into this growing field.
